Jonathan’s version.
Summer time has been my busiest time for the past several years. I travel and preach to children. It was the middle of July and I was conducting the Vacation Bible School at Faith Baptist Church in Berne, Indiana. While riding on the church bus after one of the services, I noticed Heather. I had never noticed her the way I noticed her then. It was as if God was verbally speaking to me and saying, “what do you think of her”? While this thought process was going on all the typical “bus ride” noise seemed to die out around me as I went into an observing mode. Well, right after the bus ride, I called my dad. I told him that the Lord had laid Heather on my heart and I wanted him to pray about Heather with me. He told me NOT to say or do anything but instead just to pray and let God lead. I did not approach Heather AT ALL! I did not tell her that I was praying about her or that I liked her.
Heather’s version.
Who would have ever thought such a beautiful relationship could begin on such a week as VBS usually is? Excitement, blown hair, hot and sticky, loud singing, cheering, and a packed out bus! And so much more! All of this in one night, and a week of these nights! The week was filled with so much fun. As soon as the last child was dropped off, all of us bus workers would sit in a group talking. It was then that I got to know Jonathan, but I didn’t think much about him. I didn’t know that God had been working on Jonathan’s end.
